South Korean national soccer team defender Kim Min-jae played the full game, but Bayern Munich conceded five goals and suffered their first loss of the season in the German professional soccer Bundesliga.
Munich lost 1-5 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 14th round of the 2023-2024 Bundesliga at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany, on Sept. 9 (local time).
Munich suffered its first defeat of the season (10 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss) on the day, but remained in second place (32 points).
First-place Leverkusen (35 points) remains the league’s only unbeaten team since the start of the season (11 wins, 2 draws).
After being rested for the fifth leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group A match against Copenhagen (DEN) on Nov. 30, Kim was back in action for the first time in nearly two weeks since the Nov. 25 match against Cologne in the 12th round, as the league’s 13th round match was postponed due to heavy snowfall in Munich.
Kim was paired with Dayo Upamecano in a center-back combination, but they conceded a whopping five goals on the day.
Munich conceded their first goal in the 12th minute when Frankfurt’s Omar Marmouche finished a ball that hit the crossbar with a right-footed volley.
In the 31st minute, a mistake by Kim Min-jae led to the second goal.
Kim failed to clear Ansgar Knauf’s incoming ball from the left flank, allowing Eric Dina Ebime to dribble to the left side of the penalty area and rattle the post with his left foot.
Five minutes later, Hugo Larsson struck the opposite post with a left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area to give Frankfurt a three-goal lead in the first half.
Munich pulled one back in the 44th minute when Leroy Sane scored a thunderous right-footed mid-range shot from near the penalty arc.
However, Frankfurt Ebime drove a wedge into the contest with a left-footed finish just four minutes into the second half to complete his multi-goal haul, and 15 minutes into the second half, Knauf added to the goal feast when he slotted home with his right foot after a momentary break in the defense.
Munich could not find the back of the net anymore and lost helplessly.
Football statistics specialist Fourscore.com gave Kim a rating of 5.89, while Footmob gave him a rating of 5.3. 파워볼
