Son Heung-min has been named to the English Premier League (EPL) Team of the Year.
On Monday, soccer source footballtransfers named its best 11, saying, “The EPL Team of the Year is made up of players who have been outstanding so far in the 2023/24 season.”
Son Heung-min was named to the EPL Team of the Year, saying that “Enze Postecoglouga’s deployment up front has filled the Harry Kane void perfectly.”
“Heung-min’s position is on the left flank, but he has scored six goals as a frontline striker this season,” he said, adding that Postecoglou has found an answer to the Kane conundrum.
Son Heung-min has been playing up front this season after Harry Kane’s departure and the lack of form from the Frenchman.
Son’s performances have been nothing short of spectacular. In the 16th minute of Tottenham’s EPL fourth-round match against Burnley, when they were 1-0 down after conceding a goal, Heung-min found space after a passing play with Manor Solomon, and struck a sensational chip shot to equalize.
Then came Son’s show. In the 19th minute of the second half, after receiving a pass from Solomon, Heung-min surged forward and scored his team’s fourth goal and his second of the season with a direct shot.
Heung-min’s scoring streak didn’t stop there. In the 22nd minute of the second half, he found space behind the Burnley defense and found the back of the net again after receiving a pass from Foro. It was his first hat-trick of the season.
It was Son’s fourth career hat-trick against Burnley this season, following the others at Southampton (2020/21), Aston Villa (2021/22) and Leicester City (2022/23).
Son Heung-min shone in the North London derby against Arsenal. He rattled the Arsenal net in the second minute of the first half, only to be denied by an offside flag. Then, in the 22nd minute, a brilliant pass from the right flank found Johnson with a threatening shot that was saved by the goalkeeper.
Son Heung-min, however, responded. He opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with a deft touch to deflect a pass from James Maddison after a scramble in the box. It was his fourth goal in the EPL this season.
The scoring didn’t stop there. In the 10th minute of the second half, Madison broke through after pressing and stealing the ball from Jorginho. He played a pass to Son Heung-min, who found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. It was the fifth goal of the EPL.
Heung-min scored seven goals in the North London derby against Arsenal. That’s more than Robin van Persie, Gareth Bale, and Thierry Henry, who have five.
Son’s multi-goal performance against Arsenal took him to 150 career goals in a Tottenham shirt.
He then opened the scoring against Liverpool to reach the milestone of 200 European goals.
Son opened the scoring for the Reds in the 35th minute with a simple touch after receiving a cross from the left flank by Heung-Min Son, who was played in by James Maddison’s earth-shattering pass.
Son was nominated for the EPL Player of the Month award after scoring six goals in four games in September.
Heung-min previously won the award in September 2016, April 2017, and October 2020. He is aiming for his fourth career award.
Only Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer, Dennis Bergkamp, and Paul Scholes have won the award four times in EPL history.
“Tottenham’s September Player of the Month is Son Heung-min,” Tottenham fan site The.Spurs.Bible said in its own selection on September 9.
“There was no debate about Son Heung-min. He scored six goals. It was a great September. Well deserved. Great captain.”
Maddison was also named to the EPL Team of the Year’s Best 11 alongside Son, noting that he is “one of the best attacking midfielders in the EPL and is in the best form of his career since joining Tottenham.”
“His partnership with Son is as devastating as his relationship with Kane,” he added.
Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester ahead of the season and was immediately named vice-captain, where he became the focal point of the attack, showing off his playmaking ability and becoming a punchline. He can play in both attacking and central midfield roles, focusing on creating chances with his sharp kicks.
Maddison started the 2023/24 season with a bang, picking up two assists in the opening game against Brentford.
He then opened the scoring in the third round match against Bournemouth, scoring his first goal in a Tottenham shirt, before finding the back of the net in the fourth round match against Burnley, making it two in a row.
Maddison was rewarded for his performances this season when he was named Player of the Month for August. He then made his presence felt in the North London derby against Arsenal, providing assists on both of Son’s multi-goal performances.
Heung-min and Madison have combined for eight goals and five assists in eight EPL games this season, giving them 13 attacking points.
Heung-min has six goals and Madison has two goals and five assists to lead Tottenham’s offense.
The British publication The Independent highlighted the Tottenham-Arsenal North London derby, stating that “Son Heung-min is definitely back to his best. In particular, he has found a new partner in Maddison.”
“Heung-min provided a constant and varied threat with his crossing and penetrating moves across the front line and looked lethal as his multi-goal performance earned Tottenham the three points.”
British outlet The Boot Room wrote: “Son and Maddison have a remarkable connection. They may not have met as golf caddies, but they are proving to be perfect partners on the pitch.”
“Tottenham fans were very worried about the partnership between Son and Kane breaking down, but they have found a capable replacement in Maddison.”
Son and Maddison have a close relationship.
Madison continues to host charity golf tournaments in honor of the little girl. The last one was in honor of Taylor, who died of a rare disease in 2019.
For this year’s event, Madison jokingly asked his new best friend Son Heung-min to be his caddie.
After being asked about a charity golf tournament in Madison, Son said, “They want to use me as a caddie. I’m sorry, but I have to catch a plane. I was a little sad about it,” he said.
Son will not be able to attend the charity golf tournament 토토사이트 in Madison because he has to fly to join Klinsmann for the October A matches against Tunisia and Vietnam.
He added: “I love Madison. When we struggle in the build-up, he gets involved in defense to help us out. He’s a fantastic player. It’s special to play with him,” Son said, adding that he had nothing but praise for his teammate.
Son and Madison were joined by Elling Holland, Mohamed Salah, James Ward-Prowse, Declan Rice, Destiny Udoji, Micky van der Vaan, Joachim Andersen, Kieran Trippier, and Bernd Leno in the best 11.
