Women’s professional basketball team Samsung Life of Yongin, led by 31 points from Lee Hae-ran, defeated Shinhan Bank in overtime in Incheon.
Samsung Life defeated Shinhan Bank 89-84 in an away game of the Woori Bank Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League regular season at Dowon Gymnasium in Incheon on Wednesday.
With its second win of the season (1 loss), Samsung Life moved into a tie for third place with Busan BNK.
Shinhan Bank, which lost its third straight game to open the season, dropped to fifth place, tied with Bucheon Hana OneQ for the bottom spot.
Lee Hae-ran scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Samsung Life to victory.
Shinhan Bank’s Kim Sonia scored a career-high 42 points in the loss.
Kim Sonia’s performance marked the first time a Korean player scored more than 40 points since Kim Kye-ryung of Asan Woori Bank (45 points) in the 2008-2009 season.
Shinhan Bank led 36-31 at halftime, but the fourth quarter was a tightly contested affair as Samsung Life came out firing in the second half.
Samsung Life took a 74-71 lead at the end of the fourth quarter on two free throws and a basket by Lee Hae-ran and two free throws by Bae Hye-yoon.
However, Shinhan Bank’s Kim Sonia hit a long-range three-pointer from the left midcourt with seven seconds left in regulation to make it 74-74 and send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Lee’s scoring didn’t slow down.
At the start of the period, Lee picked up a pass from Lee Ju-yeon’s fall and finished under the basket to make it 76-74.
She then nailed a three-pointer from the right side to make it 79-74, and Samsung Life never relinquished the lead. 사설토토
