Bae Ji-hwan of Pittsburgh blasted the first three-run home run in MLB history.
Bae Ji-hwan (24-Pittsburgh Pirates) hit his first career major league triple with a “clutch hit.
Bae started in center field and went 1-for-4 with a double, a home run, an RBI and a run scored in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) home game against the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Sunday.
The game-winning hit came from Bae.
With the score tied 3-3 and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Bae took a 142 mph slider from Milwaukee right-hander Elvis Figueroa.
He followed with a 177-mile-per-hour fastball that sailed over the center field fence. He was fortunate that the Milwaukee infield was skewed toward left field.
First baseman Jayson Delay made it home with time to spare, and Bae accelerated to third base.
It was Bae’s first major league triple. In the minors, Bae hit 18 triples.
Bae also scored when Miguel Andujar singled to center field.
He did not have a multi-hit game (two or more hits in a game).
Bae grounded out to third base in the first, shortstop in the third, and shortstop in the sixth. However, in his final at-bat, he hit a game-winning single. His season batting average remained at .241 (65-for-270).
Pittsburgh went on to win 5-4.
Despite the victory, Pittsburgh received some bad news.
Captain Andrew McCutchen has been diagnosed with a “six-week diagnosis” of an Achilles tendon injury and will miss the rest of the season.
McCutchen was pulled from the game after hitting a double in the fifth inning against Milwaukee on May 5 after feeling discomfort in his left foot. Further examination revealed a torn Achilles tendon.
McCutchen, who is one home run shy of 300 in his major league career, told MLB.com, “It’s unfortunate that I had an unexpected injury,” adding, 먹튀검증 “It’s disappointing, but these things can happen. I’ll definitely be back.”
